ABOUT ME
Hey! I'm Jake Raterman.
I am a SWFL based freelance lighting designer with a BA in Theatre and a BS in Child & Youth Studies from Florida Gulf Coast University. I currently work as the Production Manager at Players Circle Theater. In the 2026-2027 school year, I will begin working as the Technical Director at Canterbury School in Fort Myers.
My goal is to use design not just as decoration, but as a tool that deepens emotional connection and guides the audience’s journey through a production. I have been lucky to work in a variety of spaces on a wide range of productions in the SWFL area. Some of my favorite projects I've worked on include Alice By Heart, In The Heights, Catch Me If You Can, 4000 Miles, and Over the Tavern.
My work is built on collaboration. I thrive in joyful, supportive environments where humor and hard work go hand in hand. I approach each project with openness, creativity, and care, finding that laughter often sparks innovation and strengthens ensemble bonds.
Outside of theatre, I enjoy exploring the ocean, walking my puppy Finn, and spending time with my love, Soél. Enjoy some non-theatre pictures of me below!
